The Project

In 2016 I began work on location in Atlanta, GA for the films Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.  These films are probably the most culturally relevant projects I have worked on.  It was a truly massive undertaking.  The Production was designed by Charles Wood, with Supervising Art Direction by Ray Chan. Design, construction, and shooting would take nearly 22 months.  It was truly collaborative effort with many of our senior art directors coming from the UK.  The friendship and professional relationships that came as a result of our endeavor, is something I will always be grateful for.

Below, are some frames from one of the largest sets I have worked on, EXT Tokyo Street.

EXT Tokyo Street

In 2017 we started work on EXT Tokyo Street.   The Art Direction was by Brian Stultz. This was an ambitious outdoor location in downtown  Atlanta Georgia, where we designed and built a facade for an entire city street. The design and build took 3 months.   Below are some photographs of the sets on the night that we opened it for shooting.  I provided the scenic designs for the main facades that were ultimately shown in the film.  Photos are courtesy of Kevin Gilbert.

Technical Drawings

These are a series of design drawings I did for shop fabrication of the main building facades.  While paper drawings are quickly becoming a thing of the past, I still enjoy this process very much.

The Result

Avengers: Endgame (2019) was one of the most ambitious and successful film productions in cinema history. With a production budget estimated at $356 million, it became the most expensive Marvel film at the time. Filming took place over nearly five months (August 2017 to January 2018), primarily at Pinewood Atlanta Studios and various locations in the U.S. and Scotland.  Upon release, it shattered records—grossing $1.2 billion globally in its opening weekend and eventually earning nearly $2.8 billion worldwide, making it the highest-grossing film of all time until it was surpassed by Avatar’s re-release in 2021.
