Venue: The Venetian Expo Center, Las Vegas, NV
This is the general session for Oracle’s annual flagship event. Oracle Cloud World 2024 drew over 12,000 industry professionals to the Venetian Convention & Expo Center in Las Vegas, featuring nearly 600 approved sessions spanning a wide array of topics. The keynote addresses by Larry Ellison (CTO/Chairman) and Safra Catz (CEO) introduced major multi‑cloud initiatives. Complementing the content, attendees engaged in high-impact developer labs, customer panels, and networking events underscoring Oracle’s customer-centric focus across industries.
The biggest challenge in the design for this stage revolved around the priorities of the end client. We had a mandated seating capacity of 9500 people sitting with standing room for 500, and desk space for an array of analysts. This left very few options for placement of the stage in this space in a way that would satisfy sight lines and spatial requirements for back of house. We were left only with a solution that put architectural columns 30 feet off of our content and IMAG screens. This was a condition that the client was willing to live with to get the seating capacity that they required. With two 16:9 IMAG screens and 3 content screens at 4:1 aspect ratio, this is the widest stage I have ever designed, with more than 525 linear feet of high resolution LED panels.
Below are some early sketches that had a “louvered” effect on the outboard scenic walls. For sightlines, and to avoid repeater screens, we swapped these for outboard content screens at 4:1.
